Wild Expressions Studio Art by Barbara Cohen
Wild Expressions Studio is the site for the art of Barbara Cohen, of Parker, Colorado. Barbara's history is as eclectic as her varied tastes in art. In Ohio, while teaching 6th grade Social Studies for 12 years, and helping her students understand the differences between the Renaissance, the Reformation, and the rise of the Western Empires, Barbara began to immerse herself in the love of horses.
Barbara taught horseback riding for 26 years, to students of all ages. She taught many forms of riding including western, dressage, hunt seat, and jumping. Eventually, Barbara served as the manager of a full-service public riding center with over 40 horses, and was the trainer for the Hamilton County Park District mounted police unit, training both the horses and mounted officers.
When she paints, Barbara is sometimes driven by just the colors or a new type of paint, brush, or technique. Other times, the image itself motivates her. For most of her painting career, Barbara chose to paint still-life, flowers, and landscapes. Now, Barbara's vision has taken her to a new acrylic place of wild color, and a technique she likes to call "animal expressionism." Whatever she calls it, Barbara's new paintings exhibit a different voice and emotion from anything she has done before. She is anxious to discover if anyone else shares her vision of this wild, new style.
